Thinking about a restaurant Engagement Shoot? Do it.
Let’s be real—engagement photos in a field of tall grass or in front of a random fountain? Beautiful but perhaps predictable. If you and your partner want something that actually feels like you, think smaller, cozier, and way more meaningful. Like... your favorite restaurant. Yep, the spot where you always go for those martinis or accidentally made eye contact for too long on date #2. That’s the one. Your go-to restaurant is actually the perfect place for your Engagement Shoot. If you don’t believe me just ask BRIDES who has written at length about how 2025 is all about taking Engagement Photos in unexpected locations.
THE SPOT
Your fave restaurant isn’t just where you eat—it’s where memories live. Maybe it’s where you had your first “what are we?” convo, survived your first awkward date, or where you always end up on Friday nights. Shooting your engagement pics there instantly makes them feel personal and nostalgic—like a little time capsule of your love story, not just a Pinterest moment. Those photos will hold a history for you that just can’t be replicated in a pretty field. Kate and Patrick chose to do their Engagement Session at Turner’s in Salem, Ma. This is one of their favorite restaurants and one very close to their home. So it was without question that they picked a place where they loved and went to a lot.
VIBES
Plus, let’s talk vibes. That moody lighting? The neon signs? The booth you always sit in? It’s a whole aesthetic. Whether it’s a hip ramen spot in Chinatown, a chill brunch café in Downtown, or a tiny pizza place in the North End with 70’s booths and decor, it gives your photos a unique style that stands out—and feels 100% authentic. Turner’s has this historic charm and elegant yet downtown vibe. With big glass windows there was tons of natural light for a nice day time photo shoot. Kate and Patrick grabbed drinks and apps and we just chatted about all things food and wedding planning.
HOW IT FEELS
And because you're somewhere that feels comfy and familiar, the whole shoot will feel way less awkward. No need to pretend you're models in a meadow—just be yourselves, sip your usual drinks, steal some fries, and laugh like you always do. That natural energy? That’s what makes photos hit. I’ve seen it first hand. I don’t get questions like what do I do with my hands? Where do I look? Kate and Patrick got the shrimp cocktail some white wine and just kind of lived in that moment. They even stayed for lunch after I shot their session.
FINAL WORD
So skip the basic locations and go with something that actually tells your story. Your favorite restaurant isn’t just where you eat—it’s part of your relationship’s vibe. And that deserves to be captured. What kind of food you like, the drinks you order and the restaurants you go to all tell a story of who you are and what you’re interested in.
So when it comes to planning your Engagements Session think outside the box. Have fun with it!
