A Beacon Hill Engagement Session: Its a MUST
Hannah & Kevin |Beacon Hill Boston, MA
There’s something so romantic and timeless about photographs in the city. And when you’re talking love.. there’s something magical about capturing love in the city. Boston is home to some of the oldest and most classical architecture of our country’s history. In particular, Back Bay and Beacon Hill are home to these beautiful buildings where at any time of year it is a whole vibe to take in. These neighborhoods are voted the most walkable in Boston and might I add the MOST picturesque.
So when Hannah & Kevin inquired for me to shoot their Engagement session I practically screamed when they told me their idea to just walk around Beacon Hill sipping champagne and holding hands.
BEACON HILL | CUTE & COZY
Whatever your style is when it comes to architectural design if you don’t find it in Beacon Hill walk 5 steps and voila. These buildings are tightly packed in with a mix of old and modern exteriors, cobblestone streets and gas lanterns. It is the most quintessential Boston area you can visit. There is such variety of background that you can really create whatever feeling you want. Take the photos below for instance, you can look like you're in a small quaint neighborhood or.. in the midst of a city. There’s a lot to choose from and wherever it is you can’t go wrong.
Hannah & Kevin chose to do their session when Spring was in the height of her glory. Everything was green and the cherry blossoms were sprinkling through the air. The session began on Acorn Street, one of the most photographed streets in the city. The soft, natural light filtered through the tree lined streets and really enhanced the warmth between Hannah & Kevin.
CREATING A VIBE
Photos can reveal a lot about the people in them. Where you choose to do them and what you choose to wear and even how much you open up to the camera… it all tells a story. Hannah and Kevin wanted to bring multiple looks to change into. I really learned a lot about them that day. They both are pretty fashion forward and they are a fun and flirty couple. Hannah wore a chic white suit to start and later added a veil to the ensemble. She also wore two separate dresses, each having their own personality. Kevin kept it pretty classic with a light suit and Veja Campo Sneakers.
They brought a bottle of champagne and toasted to their session which made for the cutest photo op. If you can’t tell by these photos they had the most fun just walking around and being with each other. There’s something about the city of Boston that can just bring out that romantic side of people.
ITS DIFFERENT
You want your photos to stand out from others you’ve seen as something different but still be able to feel like they’re you? Location can certainly fix that. Choosing the right Photographer can also play a huge role in the result of your photos. Does the Photographer have a Photographic Style that is appropriate for documenting your Engagement Session in the City? What about their editing style? To create everlasting nostalgic imagery of you two you’ll want to go with a Photographer that has a very natural, organic approach to shooting and true to tone editing style.
ONE LAST WORD
If you're craving a touch of nature in your photos then a great place to wrap up the session is the Boston Public Garden. It’s a short walk from the heart of Beacon Hill and is another breathtaking location to incorporate. The iconic footbridge, swan boats and seasonal blooms will add a mix of the city charm and the natural beauty some couples might desire in photos.
Really you can find any spot in Boston and you will have some pretty magical photos but Beacon Hill is a special place especially for those classic romantics at heart and for anyone who wants to shake things up from the typical oceanside engagement session this is a great place to choose. It’s for someone who wants the modern with the timeless, chic with the classic and the fun with the romance. It is a MUST.
