My top 3 favorite locations for Engagement Sessions for 2025
Taylor & Edwin |North End/ Boston, MA
Picking a location for an engagement shoot isn’t always easy. You want a place where you can feel yourselves but also it makes for great timeless photographs. I’ve done so many engagement sessions throughout the years so I’ve decided to give you my top 3 favorite ideas for 2025!
So in no particular order..
THE OCEANSIDE ENGAGEMENT SESSION
A classic choice and if you live in New England you no doubt have a soft spot for the beach. Its where we love to be in the summer months. I’ve done many sessions on the beach both at sunset and even in the misty rain. The beach is a great neutral place that you can have fun with and take the shoot in a lot of different directions. Walk the shoreline, get in the water or set up a picnic. Really do something that reflects you as a couple and what you like to do together.
Being from the Northshore in Gloucester, we have many different beaches. I always like to mix it up with which location I choose. Gabby & Garret live a stones throw from Good Harbor beach so they decided to walk that beach and then head to the back shore where they live. It was little past full on beach season and turned out to be more of an overcast day. The session is such a classic ode to an Oceanside Engagement session while still being playful and candid enough to make it feel like “them”
IN THE CITY
My next favorite spot would have to be an Engagement session in the city
Theres something so romantic about a session in the city. Boston is THE perfect spot because it really has so many locations that you can go depending on the vibe that you’re looking for. The North end never disappoints and somewhere that at any time of year gives us her best.
Looking for even more romantic or perhaps something totally different? Do a shoot at nightfall with the city lights in the back. These shoots are so fun and make great lasting memories.
Taylor & Edwin lived in the North End so that was a no brainer for them to pick there to do their session. We walked through the streets and ended up on the roof of their apartment building where the view did NOT disappoint.
THE RESTAURANT SESSION
My last favorite spot is unusual but will be a big trend for 2025 and that is Engagement sessions in a restaurant or lounge.
Okay so I am a big fan of this one as it really helps the couple unwind and its a really unique idea that makes for some great wall art and conversation pieces. I’ve done quite a few of these shoots now and really they are so fun. Ideally a couple picks a place that is sentimental to them and where they love the food and drink. While you don’t have to document a full on meal for these sessions a drink and fun app are a great place to land.
While there are some logistics to shooting at a restaurant such as getting permission or getting a table that is ideal for 3 of us I would say lean on your photographer to help guide the way.
Arianna & Dan chose a restaurant that they’ve been going to regularly since they first started dating. It is the kind of place where you hang your drinking mug on the ceiling until you came back next time. What made it so fun was they got really dolled up for this one and the whole engagement session meets tiki dive bar really came together.

ONE LAST WORD
These are my current favorites and it does seem to me that I always have new spots that I find inspiring. When a couple comes to me with an idea like going to their favorite restaurant or going to the beach where they had their first beach day, it really makes the photos full of history and emotion. Engagement sessions are supposed to be fun and there certainly are some things you can do to make it a memorable experience with photos you are in love with. Head over to this blog post I did from a little while back to get some tips on how to prepare for your engagement session!
